D-043August 4, 2026

The homepage trade count is derived from the marquee beneath it

Decided

TRADE_VERTICAL_COUNT is exported from TRADE_VERTICALS.length and interpolated into the marquee caption, which previously read "Configured for six field-service trades" with the word typed by hand.

Affects: config/site.ts, app/page.tsx, docs/legal/FLAGGED-CLAIMS.md row F16

Why this one mattered more than its size suggests: the caption sits directly above the marquee that renders the array it counts. That is the worst possible place for a hand-counted number, because the claim and its own disproof are read together — a visitor who counts six wordmarks under a caption saying seven has caught the site being careless about a fact it put in front of them, on the homepage, in the section whose job is to establish breadth.

It was correct on the day it was written and would have become false silently the first time a seventh vertical was added. This is D-042's rule applied to a figure that only appears once: the second copy is not on another page, it is the list immediately below.

The claim is independently corroborated. TRADE_PROFILES in lib/trade-profiles.ts carries the same six trades under engine-side ids (shading, electrical, hvac, glazing, automation, lowvoltage), so the marketing array and the pricing array agree in count and in substance. They are deliberately not merged — one is copy with blurbs, the other is rate-card configuration — but a future divergence in *count* between them is worth noticing, and F16 now records where both live.
